Inspiring Imperfections

We are into Spring!!! This is one of my favourite times of year as the trees come alive as the weather warms up and there are bursts of colour everywhere you look!

I love this suite ‘Inspiring Imperfections’ that is in the Annual Catalogue. As I have mentioned before, when I used it, I love the idea behind ‘Kintsugi’, where something that seems useless and broken can have a purpose again and become more precious as a result.

There are lots of beautiful cards on Pinterest that you can view. The first one I want to show is one that I believe was inspired by Christine Reinhart. I love its simplicity but its effectiveness and want to explore using other colours as well.

This one uses Basic White along with Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and a little Cloud Cover ink. I also use Gold embossing on the vase. I used my blending brushes to colour in the vase. The flowers were stamped in Memento Black and coloured in the with blend in Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape and some Light Old Olive. These were all die cut and assembled on the card layer which has been embossed with Exposed Brick. I added a little Gold foil to highlight the card.

The second card I complete uses just Basic White and Gold Embossed Ink on the cups and sentiment. I added a vein of the Gold foil behind the cups. These are placed on a layer of Kintsugi embossed patterns. What a wonderful texture this gives! This is a tent card. I made two different ones in the same idea, but I prefer the straight Tent card.

The third card is based on a card by Helene Carignan. Helen did her original in Cherry Cobbler and Gold on a white layer and placed on a Cherry cobbler base. This is an amazing combination. I decided after making it that I would try another colour combination so I chose Blueberry Bushel as my base and teamed it up with Azure Afternoon to create, what I think, is also a beautiful card. The embossing folder, used on gold foil, sets it off. I lightly blended Blueberry Bushel on the DSP and used the blends for my flowers. I love the way a slight change in colour can transform your cards into something so special.

There are so many possibilities with this set and I encourage you to be brave and ‘think outside the box’ as you come to create with this suite. I don’t think we have had anything so unusual in Stampin’ Up© for a long time!!
