Yes – we are in September and I suspect the Christmas decorations will be up soon in the shops!! Stampin’ Up has this unusual, but stunning suite online. Don’t forget to check the online items as well as the mini catalogue!
I was drawn to this as it looks so elegant in Black, White and Gold and thought of beautiful boxes that could be made and cards. When I was at Retreat a couple of weeks ago, I was able to play with this set and get a start on my cards for Christmas. I still send them to my overseas family and I like nothing better than to receive a card too!! I just hope Australia Post does not raise our postage much more!! Even if I hand deliver cards to friends, I still want to make them and enjoy receiving them!
The DSP was teamed up with the ‘ Greetings for You’ Mix and Match Ephemera pack from the mini catalogue. These are 6 adhesive-backed sheets with pre-cut sentiments – 2 each of 3 designs and gold foil features on many of them! They are a quick way to create cards. In all of these cards, I did not do any stamping!! I just let the DSP speak!

My first card has three panels of DSP. The centre panel was the reverse side of the DSP I used. I placed these on Basic Black and used the beautiful Irregular Weave trim on this card (in the Autumn Toile Suite).

The second card was a book binder card. This time I used Basic Black as the base and added two different DSP patterns to it. I mounted the sentiment on Basic Black and cut a tree from the dies. This was embossed with the Gathering Leaves embossing folder to which I added some Wink of Stella and some small Gold Tinsel Gems.

As I had some small pieces of DSP left over, I decided to make a patchwork style card. I embossed gold foil and Basic White to add some variety to there card and placed the squares on a Basic Black Layer surrounded by gold foil. I added a strip of black and white to the centre front of the card and placed my sentiment on this. The whole card was placed on a base of Basic White.. I then added three Gold Tinsel Gems (from the Mini catalogue) to this.
Three quite different cards, but all show elegance in their own way. I hope you like what I have done. These cards were not cased! I just let inspiration take hold on this occasion!!
