12 Days of Christmas Advent Calendar: 2025: Day 7

Day 7 were more dies – similar to the Postage dies There are three different sized square ones and two different sized rectangular ones. My first thought- ‘ I could have used these in some of my earlier projects!!’

I began experimenting! My first idea was to use the square ones on DSP. Up to now I had not used the pink DSP from Day 2, so thought it would be a perfect choice. I cut out a large square (about 11cm) of the DSP and then cut out the three different nesting sizes from the centre of it. I used the plainer pink DSP as the background and thought this would be a good card to use for the ‘Big Thanks’ stamp from the accompanying stamp set. I embossed this on the bottom of a 10cm x 14.3cm layer.

Putting on the first die cut square in the centre was easy. I just used some foam strips to lay it in place after I had glued down the other DSP square. The challenge then was ‘How do I get the other layers to ‘telescope’ out. I thought about two stacked layers of foam strips, but realised it would get more precarious as the stack grew!! I added a little piece of the plain Pink DSP behind each subsequent layer with the foam strip (so it is unseen from the front. Then I added a single layer of foam strip underneath the plain pink and this raised it up. For the top layer I only needed the foam strip behind it.

I added some of the sparkling embellishments from Day 3 with a glue dot to finish it off.

For my second card I used Daffodil Delight and cut three squares from the Day 2 DSP with the dies. I then cut out three flowers from Day 1 dies and used these on top with a gold gem for the centre. I embossed the sentiment in Versamark and Gold. I actually love the brightness of this card. The Daffodil Delight layer stands out on the white base and helps the flowers coordinate into he card.
