Grow with Love Part 2

Another week and some more cards to create. This week I was inspired to try couple of different techniques to add something else to the cards I make.

For the first card I made a stencil using one of the circle punches. I punched three circles on a piece of card and by layering this on the White cardstock and using a blending brush, I was able to create backgrounds. The original card was a Paper Pumpkin card on Pinterest, but, as Paper Pumpkin is not available in Australia, I thought I’d try to recreate something similar!! I made two of these cards – one with a Balmy Blue background and one with Old Olive.

The cardstock was then embossed using Exposed Brick. I used a slightly different technique when stamping the herbs. Instead of placing the stamp directly on to the stamp pad, I used a dauber and added two different colours of ink to the stamp – Granny Apple Green and Balmy Blue blending these so it gave a different effect. These were then cut out with the dies and I add some natural linen twine as a bow to the stem. I added these to the card front hanging upside down as you sometimes see in magazines etc. I also stamped a sentiment to add to the bottom of the card and some gems to embellish it.

The second card was made using the torn paper technique. I coloured some Textured Notes DSP to create the front. I tore it in two pieces before colouring it with Cloud Cover and Secret Sea ink using a blending brush. The middle section was the original paper -as is. I then added some herbs and some white and Natural linen twine to the bottom of the card. More natural twine was added behind the sentiment. This actually makes a beautiful effect and is a fun way to create a different style of card.

The third card was inspired by a visit to the local nursery where there was a pot of Purple Basil on display. If you have seen Purple Basil, you will know that it takes on different shades, depending on its maturity. To create this effect I stamped the basil in Blackberry Bliss (full strength) in the middle of the white cardstock and then using the ‘stamping off’ technique, I added two more to either side of it. The front was simply placed on a base of Blackberry Bliss Cardstock. Some deep purple sparkle gems were added to the front of the card. I used this one for a sympathy card. I added a layer of White cardstock inside, so you could write a message.
