The challenge this month was to use up to five colours – Grapefruit Grove, Mint Macaron, Sahara Sand, Balmy Blue and Basic Grey.
I have actually come up with two very different cards – both totally out of my comfort zone! I usually like my cards to have dimension – whether it is diamantés or die cuts, but I wanted to challenge myself to create something with Simple Stamping! As usual, all my ideas seemed to come in the middle of the night, and I decided to use some of the stamps from Beauty Abounds combined with the sentiment from Butterfly Gala to create a card on a white background for my Simple stamping project. I just stamped the butterflies and sentiment in all the colours except Basic Grey (I don’t have it yet!!) I hope you like the result.
The second card was a little more complex. I was inspired by some accordion fold cards I had seen and challenged myself to use all five colours in an accordion fold design. I used the ‘It starts with Art’ stamp set and the “Follow Your Art” DSP on Basic Grey cardstock. I constructed the pocket for each panel using the two contrasting sides of one of the papers from the DSP. I then made labels to fit in the pockets using card stock in each of the colours from the challenge, trimming them with a small piece from the DSP. The labels were punched with Scalloped Tag Topper and I added some Rococo Rose Gathered ribbon on the top tied off with Nature’s Twine Crumb Cake. The front of the card used Grapefruit Grove foil with the sentiment on Whisper White. I used my blenders to colour in the sentiment so all the colours I used were represented in it and added a diamanté and some embellishments from the ‘Follow you Art’ kit. The resulting card was very different from what I usually do, and sending it in the mail would probably not work, but it would be a lovely hand delivered card for a gift!!

Wow, Elizabeth, both cards are so different and so good, I think so-called simple, one layer cards are so hard to do and you’ve rocked it! The accordion fold card is gorgeous too! So clever and inspirational!
Thanks Kylie!!! I find ‘simple cards’ difficult. I just want to add …….. !
Wow! These are both so lovely. I can’t decide which one is my favourite!
Thanks Marelle. It was an interesting journey!!
