White on white embossing

I saw some cards this week using white on white embossing and I liked the effect very much, so I decided to have a go and add my own take to it.

My first card was a get well card using Dandelion Wishes and Forever Fern. I also made a sympathy card using Forever Fern and a sentiment from Peaceful Moments. Unfortunately I have had to send several of these to folks over the past few weeks.

I started off using Versamark and White embossing powder on Whisper White card stock which I heat set. I discovered after my first try that it was important to use an embossing anti-static pad to clean the the card stock before doing this. I then used a rectangular mask to sponge Balmy Blue and a little Misty Moonlight on one and Balmy Blue and Old Olive on the other.

It was important to make sure this was dry. On the get well card, I then used the anti-static pad again to wipe the embossed card before adding more Versamark and gold embossing powder and heat drying it. I discovered that it was necessary to do this or the powder would stick to some of the embossing you had already done! I mounted the card on Misty Moonlight and a Balmy Blue card base.

On the other card, I stamped some leaves from Forever Fern in Old Olive and Misty Moonlight (stamped off) and die cut these with the Forever Flourishing Dies. I then placed them on the card front raising some with dimensionals. I added some White Linen ribbon and gold metallic trim. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and then used Misty Moonlight on top and clear embossed it. This helps it stand out. The sentiment was cut out using the Hippo and Friends dies and finished off by mounting it on Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight.

On both cards I used Elegant Faceted Gems to highlight the cards. I love the effect.
