This month we had a colour challenge using the colours Misty Moonlight, Magenta Madness and Bumblebee. These are the retiring colours for 2020 – 2022. I will miss these – especially Misty Moonlight – as it has been a softer colour of navy!
I chose a stamp set that I hadn’t used for a while – ‘Sailing Home’. I decided to use my blending brushes to create a background of the three chosen colours on the base, and I felt the stamp set was appropriate to use with this background. The sentiment was cut out using the Hippo & Friends Dies. I love this shape and the way it has a beautiful stitched line around it. I used some Misty Moonlight/Silver baker’s twine behind the sentiment and just knotted off the ends.
The card only uses one piece of cardstock, except for a small piece for the sentiment. You could even stamp the sentiment directly on to the card if you wished!
I hope you enjoy what I have done with this card and it gives you inspiration to get some of those stamp sets out that you might not have used for a while and use these colours before they disappear!!

This is gorgeous Elizabeth. Sponging is a clever way to tone down these bright colours!
Yes it gave the effect I wanted
Such a lovely card, Elizabeth! Such softness! I’m going to miss Misty Moonlight too. Sad it is retiring!
Love your technique in blending the background using these colours, Elizabeth. Brilliant!
