Crafting with You

This week during my Timeout Thursday on Facebook, I explored the Stampin’ Up bundle ‘Crafting with You’. This is an amazing set with many possibilities. It has great stamps as well as amazing dies. What could I do that was a bit different from what I had explored on Pinterest?

I have three beautiful sisters who live on the other side of the world and I miss them very much. One has just retired from teaching and hopes to follow her love of art, crafts and working with her church. Another one is also a senior teacher in a primary school. She amazes me when she organises and sews the costumes for her kids’ concerts in her school – often with just a picture of what they want. During Covid, she sewed like crazy, making Health workers’ uniforms, as well as teaching online!!! Another one makes really original cakes to order – often finding out what the person likes to do and tailoring the cake to match!!!

I wanted to show them my love for what they do. I began with an idea for the sewer!! I used Blueberry Bushel as the base and then embossed a piece of Balmy Blue with the Eyelet folder. I cut out a piece of white cardstock with the Everyday Details dies. It leaves a border of holes and I used embroidery thread to create a running stitch around it and make a tassel on each corner. I then added a piece of DSP in the centre. This was placed on dimensionals and became the focal point of the card, but I added a sewing machine, thread, reels and scissors! How cool they are!!! I then heat embossed the sentiments in white – one from the set and the other from Go to Greetings.. After putting it together I added some mini pearls to it. It looks so good. I really love the realistic look of the reels of thread.

The second card I created was for my newly retired sister, who loves to paint. I die cut the easel from Country Woods DSP and stamped brushes and a pot to hold them in memento and coloured them. Now what to use for the background!! ‘Thoughtful Journey’ DSP came to mind. I had the idea of cutting a piece of it to fit on the easel and use a larger piece on top of the Misty Moonlight base, so that it looks like the artist is painting the scene. The sentiment is from the stamp set.

I had no idea what I should do for my third card, so started playing around with Basic White. I cut out several square frame with Stitched Stylish shapes. You can do these all at one time!!!! I thought about using the usual size of card but felt it was too crowded, so used a DL envelope (11cm x 22cm) to design this card. The card base is Basic White (21cm x 21.5cm), folded in half. I added a layer of Lost Lagoon to this (10 cm x 21.1cm) and then added another layer of Basic White (9.6cm x 20.7cm) on top. Again ‘Thoughtful Journey’ DSP came to the rescue! I cut out DSP to fit behind the frames, gluing it in place. The middle sized frame has the beautiful diecut textured basket added to it. I used my markers to colour the flower stamp, as I wanted to use several colours to match the DSP. Some Wink of Stella was added to the flowers before placing the them on the basket with dimensionals. These were then arranged on the front of the card. Some diecut hearts were cut out to add as embellishments on the small frame and Lost Lagoon faceted Gems added to the card. I played around with placement before putting all pieces on the card.

‘You inspire me” was stamped in Lost Lagoon. I so love how this card turned out going from thoughts to seeing it in reality. Would love your comments on it too!!
