Saturday card making

Today we are enjoying a beautiful autumn day. Autumn is often a short season here in Australia and days are warm and usually sunny, but the nights are cool. The season is late this year due to the unusually warm and dry weather in April and our beautiful maple in our backyard is just turning red and gold now. By next weekend, many of the leaves will have fallen.

Today is an unusual day.  I’ve actually had some free time to enjoy card making! I wanted to make a few birthday cards and loved the ‘Springtime Foils’ card stock. I appreciate the versatility of being able to colour the card stock.

I’d been thinking about buying the butterfly dies from the 2017- 18 catalogue and I decided to purchase them last month when I discovered that they were being retired.  I love them and can see myself using them again and again. I wish I had bought them sooner!!

I used Lemon Lime Twist card stock, green glimmer card and some vellum to make some cards to send overseas to my family. I also used copper ribbon on one of the cards and gold foil on both – using the foil as a border on one and as a highlight on the other.

The sentiment is from ‘Balloon Adventures’. I also put some sequins and a wooden flower embellishment on one card.

Although they both use the same sheet of card stock, they look different. I look forward to more experiments with these wonderful papers!!
