Horse Sampler

I have been teaching piano for many, many years and one of the most difficult things is saying goodbye to students whom you have taught for 13+ years. You get to know them as they mature over the years and follow their challenges through their schooling.
One of my students has just finished up and I have been thrilled with how she has progressed in spite of the many struggles she faces. We love playing duets together and she is passionate about Musicals and horses.
I wanted to give her something special as she studies for her final school/ university entrance exams.
I decided to make a sampler using the ‘Let it ride’ Stamp set.

I stamped all the elements on Whisper White Cardstock in Memento ink and using the blends coloured them in. I then softened the edges of the card by sponging them with Crumb Cake ink.

They were all cut out and placed on the Woodgrain DSP (retired) and set them down on a 12 × 12 sheet of background paper. I played around with the layout until I was happy with it. The tree stamp from the set to fill in a couple of blanks on the background paper and I used the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits (retired)

to draw the whole picture together- again using the Woodgrain DSP.
I added some faux wooden buttons from my stash and copper trim to add texture to the layout.
I am very happy with the result. The whole project is placed in a 12 × 12 shadow frame which I bought in K Mart. I think she will like it!!
