Hydrangea Hill: Day 6

This suite, Hydrangea Hill, is one of my favourites in the new January – June mini catalogue. I haven’t used a lot of purples until I worked with this suite. We have a beautiful purple hydrangea in our backyard and I love its colour. At times it has touches of blue going through the petals.

These two cards use the Mercury Glass paper that comes with the suite. On the first one I used Gorgeous Grape as the base and then for my first layer I added Whisper White that I had embossed with the Scripty folder. I then added a layer of the Mercury Glass Paper and stamped some flowers in Memento Black. I coloured these using a water painter and the Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Seaside Spray ink pads. I cut them out with the dies and also cut out some leaves from Old Olive cardstock. I even used the negative pieces on the card.

This was a perfect opportunity to add one of the gold hoops. Before gluing it all down I worked out where I wanted to place all the cutouts and also added a Gorgeous Grape ribbon and the pastel pearls.

The sentiment was stamped in Gorgeous Grape and cut out using the Whimsy Dies and placed on the card with dimensionals. I added some pearls and some of the Hydrangea Hill embellishments.

The second card used a similar layout. This time the base was in Highland Heather and the first layer was Gorgeous Grape. I reversed the Mercury paper so the silver side faced out and layered leaves and flowers that I had stamped and coloured along with some Old Olive foliage.

There are some very pretty individual hydrangea flowers in the dies and I cut several of these out in the colours. The sentiment is stamped again in Gorgeous Grape and cut using the dies. I added some mini pearls to the centre of some of the flowers and a Gorgeous Grape bow.

I love these two cards and how they turned out. I am looking forward to creating some more cards with these elements in the days ahead.
