Stampers Anonymous Blog Hop #39

This month we have a layout challenge. Last weekend I was at Stamp Retreat and came up with an idea for a card that thought a little ‘outside the box’.

I chose the New Horizons DSP as my background paper where it has a natural divide in the middle where the foreground meets the horizon and used that as my divide in my card. I cut out a hexagonal shape from Beautiful Shapes Dies from the the middle of the scene and stamped an image in Memento Black from Beautiful Moments on the base. This was then watercoloured in the inks – Blackberry Bliss, Polished Pink, Misty Moonlight and the new Naturals blends. The remaining background was also lightly watercolored to give a continuity of the scene.

The card base is Basic White and layer of Blackberry Bliss. The sentiment is from Encircled in Friendship.

When I came home, I decided to do a second card using the Sweet Talk DSP, Daffodil Delight and Gorgeous Grape cardstock. I cut out a heart from the Bouquet of Love dies and embossed it with the Bouquet of Love Embossing Folder. It is easy to miss this gem in the Mini January to June catalogue so look out for it on Page 11!! I added some Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon to the card as well as some Playing with Patterns Resin Dots.

I hope you like both of these cards which are very different. Do you have a favourite? i think I like the first one because of the unusual hexagon shape on the front and I love the New Horizons DSP as well!!

  1. Fabulous use of the dsp for this sketch. And I love the bright colours in the love card too.
