Stampers Anonymous Blog Hop #53

This month our challenge was to use a layout to create a card. I decided to make a sympathy card as a friend lost his mother this week. I used the ‘By the Bay’ suite again for this card. You might notice that I love this suite. I’m sad that it will soon be retired.

I have lots of the ‘By the Bay’ DSP, as I am creating some shoebox cards for one of our camps in the next few days. I decided to use Sahara Sand cardstock as my base for the card. I used one of the Framed Florets Dies to cut out an oval from the front of the card. The front was then embossed with the Splatters Embossing Folder. This folder is shorter than the front of the card, but I was able to use it so that the whole of the front section is covered with splatters by overlapping it slightly. This folder reminds me of the patterns left after water has evaporated from the sand.

I glued a piece of ‘By the Bay’ DSP inside the front to show through the oval. I added three circles cut using the Stylish Shapes Dies to the front – one in gold foil, one in Sahara Sand and one in Basic White (the cardstock ones were also embossed with the Splatters EF.) I then stamped the sentiment from the Seaside Bay stamp set and cut out a tag and heat embossed it in Versamark and Gold.

The large bird is die cut from the DSP using the Seaside Bay Dies and the shells and the small birds were stamped in Sahara Sand and coloured in using a watercolour brush and Night of Navy, Balmy Blue and Petal Pink ink. I added some Wink of Stella the the shells.

Using multi purpose glue and some dimensionals, I added all the elements to the basic card. Inside, I added a piece of Basic White cardstock for the message.
