Christmas Cards made Easy

Week 8 of the Twelve Weeks of Christmas Projects

Welcome to Week 8 of our Twelve Weeks of Christmas! Need some Christmas cards fast? This is a wonderful stamp set that gives you a beautiful card very quickly. It only uses stamping, but of course you can step it up if you wish. I will show you some pictures of stepped up cards later on in the blog. I used the Painted Christmas Suite. There are two stamp sets and two sets of dies in this suite – Christmas Season and Christmas to Remember.

For this card I used Evening Evergreen as the base of the card and Basic White for the front and the inside. I used Crumb Cake to stamp the pinecones. The pinecones are a two step stamp. The first layer is stamped off. For those who have never heard of ‘stamping off’ it means that you ink up your stamp and stamp it on a spare piece of paper and then stamp on the card. This makes the first layer of the pinecone lighter in colour. Then you take your second stamp which has more detail on it and stamp it directly on top of the first layer to get depth and effect. I then stamped the pine needles with Evening Evergreen. I stamped full strength on the card and then stamped again three times in different places around the pinecones. I added some berries in Real Red.

The sentiment is stamped in Evening Evergreen on the centre of the card. The inside of the card is also stamped in Evening Evergreen and some berries are also added in Real Red.

Both pieces of cardstock are then glued on to the card base. This is a great card to use to make duplicates. They are quick and easy! It is great for Beginners.

I stepped it up a little in the following card. I did much the same stamping but before doing this I added a few berry sprigs in Versamark and White Embossing powder on the top left and bottom right front layer, being careful not to stamp in the area where the greenery would be. I heat set this and then did the rest of the stamping. The sentiment this time is stamped on a separate piece of Basic White. I used Versamark on the stamp first and then Evening Evergreen. I heat set this and daubed some Evening Evergreen ink on the edge of the cut out sentiment using the Seasonal Label dies. This was placed on the card with dimensionals.

I used some Wink of Stella on the greenery and some rhinestones to the sentiment. This card would be suitable for the Casual Stamper.

The final card is for the Avid stamper. The Base was stamped with versamark pin needles directly on to the Evening Evergreen base and then heat set. I added a Soft Succulent layer on top of this and used the Christmas Pinecones large die to add a layer in the same colour of Soft Succulent. This layer was cut out using the Stitched Rectangles. I used a smaller Rectangle to cut out the Basic White top layer. I stamped on this in the same colours, but I also used the large pinecones die to add another layer of Basic White on the white layer that had some sparkle added with Wink of Stella. The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and I used Gold Embossing Powder. I added a layer of Gold foil behind the sentiment and some brushed metallic gems.

I then added some Gold Glitter paper that was available in the recent Sale-a-bration. The pinecone shape was cut in this. I added some Matte Decorative Dots as berries.

I hope you enjoyed these cards. Next week we are going to make treat boxes for the Christmas table or friends.
