O Holy Night

Christmas is a special time of year and, when I see the title of this blog, I am reminded of Christmases past when we would sing this carol around the piano at home. When Stampin’ Ups brought out this suite in their mini catalogue, I was immediately drawn to it. I loved the whole suite – stamps, dies, embossing folder, DSP, ribbon and embellishments. I immediately bought it!

However , like many sets, some parts are used a lot and others not so much. This past weekend, I decided to use the ‘O Holy Night’ DSP and create some cards etc.

Gail Ellis had made some beautiful luminaries with this set, so I began by casing one of her luminaries. I am not sure it is the same size as hers, but I created it for my Christmas decorations and added a battery operated light in it. It looks so effective at night when the sun goes down and it is such a peaceful scene.

I then thought about making a bridge card, but I wanted to be able to put it into an envelope flat and I didn’t have time to work out how to do that, so I left the ‘bridge’ part of and made a fold card. I used some of the DSP left over from the luminary, and decorated the card front and inside front and added some die cuts. The whole card was placed on a Night of Navy base and shows the Nativity scene and again reflects some of the peace of the Christmas season.

I added a piece of Basic white on the back, so a greeting could be added but I also gold embossed a verse from the Night Divine bundle on this. I was quite pleased with how it turned out. I am thinking I might try and create a 12″ x 12″ framed scene as well – perhaps today.

When creativity hits you, your mind thinks of all possibilities!!! I wonder what you have created with this set. I’d love to see your creations, so share them with me!!
