After using ‘Bee my Valentine’ at a craft retreat earlier in the year, I decided to buy it, but haven’t used it a lot since. What I love about doing this weekly Facebook Live is that it has made me come out of my comfort zone and try out things I might not normally try and the added advantage is that I get to use all my stamp sets again and again in different ways!!!
I loved the DSP too, but sadly, it is no longer available – although I still have some of it! The challenge can be just to use the set without the DSP. The stamp set comes with a bee punch as well.
The first card I made – just to get me into it – was created by Sue Mohr from Aromas and Art. It is a very simple card. I changed the ribbon on it to one that is in the new Christmas catalogue. It used Daffodil Delight and Basic White cardstock and ribbon and I fussy cut some bees from my DSP scraps. It would be a great card to give with a handmade gift. When I remade this on line, I embossed the Basic White cardstock to add texture.
For my second card, I created my own DSP stamping bee trails and hearts and flowers on a piece of Basic White Cardstock. I also stamped and punched some bees in Memento Black and Daffodil Delight and with Petal Pink wings. and punched out the bee body to write the sentiment on. The White DSP cardstock was added to a layer of Cherry Cobbler before placing it on a Basic White base.
The third card began with experimenting with the honeycomb stamp on Basic White. I gold embossed this after I had used Daffodil Delight on my blending brush. I then fussy cut these out. I began by layering them on a piece of Basic White, but felt it needed something else so I added bee trails randomly on it. Before gluing the honeycomb in place I used the stylish shapes to cut a square window from the top layer. I also used two of these dies to create a frame in Cheery Cobbler. A piece of window sheet was added to the other side of this and some foam adhesive strips. I created a separate piece of background to place behind it. but before adding it to the top layer, I filled it with some Iridescent trinket gems. For the one online, I used some trinket bees and flowers left over from other projects along with a few punched out mini hearts.
This was placed on a Real Red layer using the foam strips and added to the base of the card. Here were three cards that really did not have a Valentine theme at all!! I also made some gift boxes inspired by Sam Hammond for a retreat that I am going on in a few weeks.
I hope you enjoy these cards and find inspiration to use your stamp sets in a different way!!
