Lovely and Sweet

This week I decided to create with the ‘Lovely and Sweet’ stamp bundle. This is a returning stamp set and is in the Annual catalogue. When it first came out in the previous catalogue, the DSP was in golds, browns and white and was really beautiful. I still have a little bit left! It was also paired with Nature’s Sweetness .

I wanted to try and do something different with the set this week. I decided to create my own DSP using some embossing powders in gold, white and copper. The cards all have a similar theme. Many of you know I love embossing. I get great satisfaction from watching the powder change, as it comes in contact with the heat, and turn into a real feature of the creation.

I began by doing some DSP, creating it on Basic White. I embossed in gold and blended over this using shades of blue – Balmy Blue, Azure Afternoon and Misty Moonlight. I then embossed one of the stamps using white embossing powder on Misty Moonlight cardstock. This comes to life when heated and I love the effect! It was diecut and placed on top and all was placed on a Basic White base.

Behind them, I added some denim ribbon and white twine and a sentiment from the stamp set. Each of the cards I made has a slightly different treatment. I’d be interested in which one you like.

As I completed these, I wondered how it would look, if I reversed the colouring! Using the same Misty Moonlight Cardstock, I stamped and embossed in Basic White. I then diecut little sprigs and flowers from the die set in Basic White. After stamping and embossing the blossom with white on Misty Moonlight and die cutting it, I added it to the card with dimensionals, and finally added the sprigs and flowers around this. I did not add any sentiments to the front of this card. I am so pleased with this card and it probably is my favourite, but that changes from moment to moment!

Next challenge!! What if I used a different colour altogether? I decided to use Old Olive and Mossy Meadow this time with a hint of Pretty in Pink on Basic White and Copper embossing. These colours are picked up on the blossom. I used blends to colour the blossom in and also an Ivory blending pen for the petals. This was placed on top of a punched out decorative circle.

Before attaching the blossom, I splattered the circle with Misty Moonlight and Wink of Stella and daubed the edges with Old Olive and finally added it to the card using dimensionals.

I wrapped some Linen Twine around the card and made a double bow and added the sentiment stamped in Mossy Meadow with the edge also daubed in Old Olive. It was then places on a Basic White base.

I love the way this card evolved from a thought to reality! Don’t write off those carried over stamps and forget about them. You can give them a whole new look with some imagination!!

I also have made a video of these cards, as I made them, for you to watch – either on FacebookLive or YouTube.
