Thoughtful Expressions

This week I used a set that has been sitting on my shelf for a few months called ‘Thoughtful Expressions’. There are beautiful and elegant dies that go with this set. It is a returning stamp from last year’s catalogue.

I have been fascinated by hummingbirds and found lots of interesting facts about them, but what intrigues me most is how tiny they are and how they fly alone up to 800 kms!!!! I loved watching them when we were in the USA a few years ago.

My first card was based on a card by Jay Soriano of Mitosu Crafts. It uses white on white with the flower and hummingbird adding the colour. The embossing folder is Layered Florals. Instead of the criss cross on the front of the card, I added two white strips, then added the flowers and diecuts with DImensionals. Some of these were coloured with blends. It creates a beautiful sympathy card.

My next card is a Buckle card. This was inspired and cased from Tamara’s Paper Trail. Tamara Bertram uses the Winter Wishes returning DSP in this card and it has a buckle type closure. I used Blueberry Bushel and Basic white with this card.

I used blends for the hummingbird and cut it out with the die and added it to the buckle. I love this card and see possibilities of using other DSP and images to change it.

My final card today is based on a card by z-Grandma Karen (Jean Weisbeck). It just uses there analogous colours to produce a very elegant card. I used Boho Blue, Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy and stamped the hummingbird in these three colours . What a beautiful effect it creates. I used Boho Blue and Night of Navy cardstock and Neutrals DSP to create this card. Inside an offset stamp of a hummingbird in Night of Navy adds to the overall theme. I then added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the front.

I hope I inspire you to use some stamp set that you might have not have used much yet, to have a go, and create one or more of these cards.
